Welcome to our new web page which we hope will be of assistance with our variety of services that have a focus on behavioural change. In our work with clients over the last 25 years we have asked them ‘what happened’ and/or ‘can you tell us your story’ and most of the time they will say something like “oh you don’t want to hear mine it’s so boring” which on listening too is anything but boring. Genetic coding and primary carer programming (age 0-9) have a lot to contribute in the way we function and how we make sense of the world.
So much so we often run on auto pilot as a result of the primary programme and others we install or upgrade along the way for example riding a bike and/or driving a car. Other programmes we install are also skilled based such as our chosen profession and/or hobbies with most taking considerable time to adopt and continual application ie use it or lose it.
That’s the mechanical; now for the emotional. Inside our brain located in the limbic area is the Amygdala. The amygdala is involved in autonomic responses associated with fear and hormonal secretions. Scientific studies of the amygdala have led to the discovery of the location of neurons in the amygdala that are responsible for fear conditioning. Fear conditioning is an associative learning process by which we learn through repeated experiences to fear something. This has a lot to do with sustained trauma either from before we were born, childhood trauma and/or adult trauma. This has a lot to do with our emotional functioning and how our programmes function or don’t function whichever the case may be. The Amygdala is the keeper of our life scripts some of could be rewritten for us to resolve to evolve.
Frontier Counselling offers an array of services that have a focus on upgrading and/or overriding old programmes that aren’t working for the individual anymore. Based on scientific and experiential learning these programmes are for those that want to know how change can be embraced and that upgrading is a practice that enrich our personal growth. Based on Trauma Informed Care principles each programme is designed to improve the individuals functioning.
